Army Credentialing Assistance Update: Eligibility Changes by Rank

Army IgnitED, ArmyCOOL

Effective March 19, 2026, Army Credentialing Assistance eligibility changed for commissioned officers. Eligibility now differs by rank and, for some officers, by whether a credential goal was already in place before the policy took effect.

Commissioned Officers, O-1 Through O-10

Commissioned officers are no longer eligible to use Credentialing Assistance funding for new credential goals.

Commissioned officers who submitted a credential education goal before March 19, 2026, may continue requesting the funding needed to complete that existing goal.

This applies across the Active Army, Army Reserve, and Army National Guard.

Warrant Officers

Warrant officers remain eligible to use Credentialing Assistance, subject to current Army requirements, funding limits, and approval.

Current Army COOL guidance also states that warrant officers do not incur a service obligation for using CA.

Enlisted Soldiers

Eligible enlisted Soldiers remain eligible to use Credentialing Assistance for approved credentials and related training.

Funding remains subject to ArmyIgnitED approval, current program requirements, deadlines, and available funds.

What This Means for Soldiers Pursuing the Certified Running Technique Specialist Credential

These eligibility rules determine who may use Army Credentialing Assistance funding to pursue the Certified Running Technique Specialist credential and associated training course through Army COOL and ArmyIgnitED.

Commissioned officers without a qualifying existing goal are no longer eligible for CA funding. Commissioned officers with a goal submitted before March 19, 2026, may continue completing that goal. Warrant officers and enlisted Soldiers remain eligible, subject to standard Army requirements and approval.

The Army makes the final determination regarding individual eligibility. Soldiers should confirm their status in ArmyIgnitED before enrolling or relying on CA funding.

We will continue publishing updates when Army COOL or ArmyIgnitED policies affecting this credential and its related training change.

RUNNING IS A MILITARY SKILL

Running is fundamental to military readiness, yet it is commonly trained and assessed through outcomes such as distance, pace, and time rather than through the action itself.

Military Running focuses on the missing layer: a practical system for observing, assessing, and correcting running as a movement skill.

Pose Method® running skill training has been applied in U.S. military training and return-to-duty environments since 2007.

FOR INDIVIDUALS

Online Running Skill Training and the Certified Running Technique Specialist credential provide an individual pathway for developing the ability to observe, assess, and correct running technique.
