INDIVIDUAL RUNNING SKILL TRAINING
Develop your own running skill — and build the technical capability to assess, teach, and correct running in others.
Running skill training can serve two purposes: developing your own performance and building a professional capability that remains uncommon across the military. The online course provides the technical and practical foundation; the certification exam provides the pathway to demonstrate competency and earn the Certified Running Technique Specialist credential.
Running skill is becoming a larger part of the military conversation around performance and lower-extremity MSK injury prevention. Service members who can assess, teach, and correct running bring a technical capability that remains uncommon across the force.
This is a strong time to develop that expertise and establish the credential that demonstrates it.
Build the foundation.
The Pose Method® Running Skill Training course develops the knowledge and practical skill to understand the running action, assess performance, apply corrections, and use the system in your own training or professional practice.
The online course includes theory, practical instruction, technique drills, exercises, follow-along routines, and guidance for running in combat boots and rucking.
Demonstrate competency.
The Certified Running Technique Specialist exam is the credentialing pathway for those prepared to demonstrate their understanding of running as a skill and their ability to assess, analyze, and instruct the running action.
The credential provides a way to distinguish technical competency in an area increasingly relevant to military performance, MSK injury prevention, and unit-level instruction.
The course builds the knowledge and practical foundation. The exam verifies that knowledge and leads to the credential.
For Army personnel pursuing both through ArmyIgnitED, the course and certification can be requested as part of the same professional-development path. Other Service members and professionals may pursue the certification separately when course funding is not available.
The Certified Running Technique Specialist credential is listed through DOD COOL and aligned with Soldier Common Core (MOS) and P5 – Holistic Health and Fitness Integrator (ASI). The credential is recognized as a technical certification and carries 10 promotion points.
