Running Skill is a critical component of the physical readiness domain of H2F and utilizes Pose Method to teach Soldiers Running Skill. FM 7-22 Chapter 7 “Running Skill”
NCOs should be Trained and Certified to become CRTS (Certified Running Technique Specialists) in order to properly train Running Skill to trainees and Soldiers alike
Army IgnitED, a civilian credentialing assistance program (formerly GoArmy ED) covers the costs of getting Trained and Certified for all Army, Army Reserve, and National Guard Servicemembers. (Primary obstacle is soldier awareness of the program and assistance signing up. Education offices and units are the most critical component to sharing the information with individual soldiers)
Pose Method and Running Skill Training have been a part of Army training for over 17 years and were officially added to doctrine in 2020 (FM 7-22). Additionally, it is the only running methodology scientifically proven to reduce knee loading by 50% (34% of Lower Limb MSK injuries in Army are knee related). Sec of Defense will soon brief congress on what stands in the way of implementing force wide Running Skill Training. (page 201-202 of NDAA)
Allocate funding for Training and Certification program for BLC NCOs to rapidly integrate running skill into their training protocols for Soldiers. Advocate for policy to train NCOs with Running Skill Training so that they may properly bridge the skill gap that leads to a majority of MSK injuries from running.
Teaching Running Skill proactively to Soldiers lowers medical system utilization by MSK injuries that could be prevented and treated at the Brigade or Battalion footprint. Originally starting with Physical Therapists & Master Fitness Trainers – becoming a Certified Running Technique Specialist is now recommended for all NCOs. The civilian credential provides 10 promotion points, and a technical certification listing on a Soldier Talent Profile.
Pose Tech provides a mixture of in-person and remote training & education to accommodate availability of the instructor base within the partner organization

About Running Skill Training (Group)
The Pose Method of Running is a technique and skill solution that has been researched and vetted by the scientific community and Department of Defense and is scalable to the entire Armed Forces. It became part of Army Doctrine in 2020 as part of FM 7-22, the basic field manual, due to the efforts over a 14-year period of engagement with the US Army where the Pose Method has shown positive outcomes in small scale training groups. West Point published a case series demonstrating its proactive efficacy as an alternative to surgery that was later reproduced independently by the Royal Dutch Navy.
Who is the Running Skill Training For?
This skill training is intended for all soldiers. It teaches running skill (technique) – the foundation of running without injuries, running any distance(s), and running faster (than before). This training provides flexible and adjustable tools that can be scaled as needed.

How to Sign Up on DOD COOL (Individual)
The Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard each have their own Service-specific COOL programs designed to match military occupations to civilian credentials (occupational certifications, licenses, and apprenticeships) and provide resources to help Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and Coast Guardsmen attain these credentials.
